Colder weather, and some ice

There has been some sub-freezing weather in North Carolina this winter, but no snow yet. Here are a few shots of the changing weather, including some icy images.

Sometimes the leaves seemed more inclined to fly than to fall:

Here are three images of icicles that formed around a drainage sluice:

A stream partially froze, and I found a formation in the middle of the flowing water that reminded me of various animals. A bur was in the right place for a heart. It was a bit like imagining animals in the clouds:

Twisted trees made nice curves seen from a particular spot:

And the marsh around the zoo looked cold and wintry in spite of having no sign of ice when I was last there in December '08.
